What's the worst #cinema (#movie #theatre) you've ever experienced?
Mine was a small local which showed archive #films, which is great, but they seemed to have the worst possible copies.
They showed a #silentfilm with no music or anything, audience awkwardly sitting in total silence.๐
Then they showed a tender #romantic #drama where audio sounded like mickey mouse.
Then they showed a modern Hollywood film with wrong projection aspect ratio, so you could see all the boom mics and lighting ๐คฆ
@checkervest Hahaha ๐ I bet it was exciting. They could have advertised it as "Will you make it out of this screening alive?"
@kris I saw a Romanian film called Tales From the Golden Age a few years back, and it was just me and my SO. They fucked up the sound, had the wrong aspect ratio, and broke the last reel. They just cut their losses and turned on the house lights after a bit. Projectionist was having a rough go of it.
@derek Aww... poor guy/gal ๐ฝ
@kris I used to go to one all the time that would occasionally just... lose one of the layers of audio. Either the music would be barely audible or the dialogue, but something was always wrong. It also would occasionally mess up something with the visual, so the entire screen would be dark purples and greens.
They built it in a hurry so during the first couple of years pieces would just fall off, including ceiling panels in the actual theaters. It made for an exciting movie watching experience
