Metropolis is great, at very least aesthetically, although the plot is kinda mid. Fucking beautiful movie

@TerryHancock there isn't really a formal way we do it, people just kind of watch what they like as it comes up; I'm doing this for 1927 just because I suspect people will just have seen way fewer of them, so it's kind of a heads up

I guess with a lot of these older films, you can probably find them on YouTube, now. I've found a few old films that way.
I presume most of these are silent films? I know Metropolis is, and The Jazz Singer was one of the first films with any sync sound, IIRC.

@TerryHancock yup, I'm like 99% sure these are all silents save The Jazz Singer

@derek
I personally love the Giorgio Moroder version of Metropolis, with the 80s pop soundtrack. Not the most complete version of the original film anymore, but I found the combination of MTV music-video era music with 20s telegraphic over-acting to be very enjoyable to watch!

@TerryHancock @derek I’ve managed to source most of this slate online, many through legal means. Looking forward to watching them!
Some familiar faces will be there: Hitchcock, Murnau, Eisenstein, Fritz Lang, Josef von Sternberg, and Buster Keaton are all represented
