Day one of the October daily drawing challenge, “Ignis!” I’m using the Obscutober III prompt list

Day three, “pareidolia, the perception of significant patterns or faces in random or accidents arrangements of shapes and lines”

Posting a very quick day 5, I may do it in watercolor if I get home in time. “mesmeric, causing a person to become completely transfixed and unaware of anything else around them”

My hands aren’t very steady tonight so this is as good as it gets! Day 6, “vertigo, a sensation of whirling and loss of balance associated with looking down from a great height,” and day 7, “zephyr, a soft gentle breeze.”

Day 8, “haze, an aggregation in the atmosphere of very fine widely dispersed solid and/or liquid particles, giving the air an opalescent appearance that subdues colors”

day 9, “numinous,” spoilers for The Ritual

Day 9, “numinous: supernatural, mysterious, filled with a sense of the presence of divinity”

Day 10, “selcouth: strange, unusual, rare, marvelous, wondrous”

Who else could that be but platybelodon

Day 11, “dreeblissa, the feeling of happiness towards someone in real life because of something good they did in your dream.”

Day 13, “demersal, chiefly of fish living close to the floor of the sea or a lake”

Day 14, “nyctophany.” I couldn’t find it in a dictionary so, “nycto-,” meaning night, and “-phany,” meaning “appearance/manifestation,” so here’s a painting inspired by a scene in the Green Knight (word nerds please chime in if you know a better definition, some of these words are extremely obscure)

Working on catching up!! Day 15, “psychalgia: psychological or emotional pain,” (curling up in an empty bathtub in comfy clothes with a book can be a great way to recover from a bad mental/emotional episode and I highly recommend it), and Day 16, “suadade: a sad state of intense longing for someone or something absent”

Day 17, “lucent: glowing with or giving light,” and day 18, “aidan: little fire”

Day 19, “fragmentation: being broken into small or separate parts; a form of asexual reproduction or cloning,” and day 20, “lygophilic: the love of darkness”

Some of these are just not very good but you know what, at the very least they’re done

Day 21, “habromania: rarely used term for a morbid impulse towards gaiety,” and day 22, “scopophobia: an excessive fear of being stared at”

Day 23, “serenity: the state of being calm, peaceful, and untroubled,” and day 24, “halcyon: denoting a period in the past that was idyllically happy and peaceful, also a tropical Asian and African kingfisher with brightly colored plumage”

Day 25, “latibule: a small hiding place, a place of safety and comfort;” and “aurum: gold”
